24 Jun 2011

The first photos from the set of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (one of two prequels to the movies directed by Peter Jackson and based on JRR Tolkien’s The Lord Of The Rings) have been released.

The prequels tell the story of how Gandalf convinces a group of dwarves that Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit, is an extraordinary thief who can help them recover their lost mountain home and its treasure from the dragon Smaug. After showing up at unexpectedly at Bilbo’s house, the dwarves convince him to join them in their quest.

On the way to the Misty Mountain, Bilbo is separated from the dwarves and finds a cave where the creature Gollum has lived for many years with only his “precious” – The One Ring.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is expected to be released in December 2012. The Hobbit: There And Back Again (the second prequel) will be released in December 2013.
