I want an insect-powered LED clock

Two designers from the UK, James Auger and Jimmy Loizeau, have designed a prototype LED clock that doesn’t need batteries – it catches and digests bugs, using their remains as biofuel.

The clock features a roll of sticky paper that catches insects and deposits them in a microbial fuel cell. Bacteria in the fuel cell digest the insects' biomass and the resulting chemical reactions release electrons that power the clock and rotate the paper.

James and Jimmy have designed several similar gadgets, including a version of the clock that’s powered by mice and a lamp powered by insects lured to their deaths with ultraviolet LEDs, all of which fall under the category of "Carnivorous Domestic Entertainment Robots".
